for everyone
If you own Dreamcast, be warned that they are no longer part of Sega. Their current site www.dreamcast.com is using the Sega logo illegally, and is now a phishing scam. This has been confirmed by a Japanese news site, and the registration information for dreamcast.com is also fraudulent. Clicking on the "Do You Still Own A Dreamcast?" will bring you to a form which captures your console serial number and email address which will be collected by the scammers.

I remember writing on phishing once before and while you see less of these scams nowadays, do keep in mind that they are still out there. If you receive any email from major banks, ebay, paypal or even yahoo / hotmail asking you to verify personal information like passwords, credit card account numbers, etc., with an accompanying link in the email, do remember that these companies will never ask for your personal information through email OR phone. They will typically ask you to log into your account under their main domain site, and verify it only when you are logged into your usual account. Do note that it is dead easy to replicate the format of emails that ARE sent by these companies.

In any case of doubt, please call the bank, ebay / paypal to inquire if such an email was sent out before giving out any personal information. They take phishing reports very seriously, and will thank you for alerting them.

And don't think it can't happen to you. I actually received such a phishing email but contacted the bank directly to be informed that there was no such email sent out. Fortunately, I had not responded to the email as the English was fishy and the formatting was questionable. It was a good reminder that in an age where the click of a button and filling in personal information online is such a natural way of life that we do it without thinking, without guard. So before you hit the "Submit" button for ANY form you fill up online, check that you're on the right domain, you did not enter any field that seems unnatural / uncomfortable to you (addresses, mobile number, etc) and try to fill in only the compulsory fields. The less information you have floating out there, the less at risk you are.
